President Donald Trump ended Friday with a series of new nominations for his administration, including a new director for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Director of the United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
Trump posted on Truth Social about each of the picks, including nominating Russell Thurlow Vought to lead the OMB.
“I am very pleased to nominate Russell Thurlow Vought, from the Great State of Virginia, as the Director of the United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB). He did an excellent job serving in this role in my First Term – We cut four Regulations for every new Regulation, and it was a Great Success!” he wrote.
“Russ graduated with a B.A. from Wheaton College, and received his J.D. from the Washington University School of Law. Russ has spent many years working in Public Policy in Washington, D.C., and is an aggressive cost cutter and deregulator who will help us implement our America First Agenda across all Agencies,” he continued.
“Russ knows exactly how to dismantle the Deep State and end Weaponized Government, and he will help us return Self Governance to the People. We will restore fiscal sanity to our Nation, and unleash the American People to new levels of Prosperity and Ingenuity. I look forward to working with you again, Russ. Congratulations. Together, we will Make America Great Again!” he concluded.
Other positions announced on Friday included NFL veteran Scott Turner as Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Lori Chavez-DeRemer for Labor Secretary and Scott Bessen as Treasury secretary earlier Friday.
Trump also announced Alex Wong as his Principal Deputy National Security Advisor and Assistant to the President, who will work alongside National Security Advisor Michael Waltz. Dr. Sebastian Gorka was appointed Senior Director for Counterterrorism and Deputy Assistant to the President.
Trump’s Friday announcement also several health nominations, including nominating Fox News contributor Dr. Janette Nesheiwat as Surgeon General, former Florida GOP Rep. Dave Weldon as the new director of the CDC and Dr. Marty Makary as the next Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner.
“The current Health of America is critical, and CDC will play a big role in helping to ensure Americans have the tools and resources they need to understand the underlying causes of disease, and the solutions to cure these diseases,” Trump said concerning Weldon.
