President Donald Trump’s nominee for U.S. Attorney General, Pam Bondi, is receiving widespread support following his recent announcement.
Bondi, a former Florida attorney general and the first female attorney general in the state, was praised by a host of lawmakers in a news release from the Trump campaign.
“Pam Bondi is a longtime prosecutor& effectively led FL large AttyGeneral’s office for 8yrs She is well regarded& experienced I got to know her during 1st Trump term when Trump signed 1st crim justice reform in a generation Will learn more as we vet her nom in judic Cmte,” Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley wrote on X.
Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley echoed Grassley’s encouragement in his own post to X.
“Congrats to my friend @PamBondi! She’ll be a fabulous AG. Now we need a new Church Commission to investigate the abuses of DOJ & FBI – the persecution of Trump & conservatives, the spying on Christians, the targeting of prolifers. I will lead the charge in the Senate. And I know Pam Bondi will be a fantastic partner in this effort to CLEAN UP the FBI & DOJ,” he stated.
Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn emphasized Bondi’s expertise to fight the weaponization of the FBI and Justice Department.
“An excellent nomination by @realDonaldTrump for Attorney General. @PamBondi’s experience as a career prosecutor and Florida Attorney General make her a good choice to lead the DOJ. I look forward to working with her to restore public trust in our institutions and end the political weaponization of the FBI and DOJ,” Cornyn wrote.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich also commended the selection of Bondi.
“Pam Bondi will make a great Attorney General. She was very effective as a leader in Florida. She will enforce the law, clean out the corrupt and dishonest and return the Justice Department to a trustworthy law abiding institution. President Trump has made an excellent pick,” Gingrich noted.
Even CNN legal analyst Elie Honig admitted Bondi is well-qualified for the role.
“Pam Bondi is, without a question, qualified to be Attorney General. She’s been a prosecutor for 20 years in Florida. For 8 of those, she was the Attorney General of the state. That’s a very big, very complicated job‚ and that level of experience is on par with, or better than most United States Attorneys General that we’ve seen over the past 50 years or so,” he stated during an interview on the network.
