Republican Vivek Ramaswamy, a businessman and former 2024 GOP presidential primary candidate, is soon expected to officially launch his 2026 Ohio gubernatorial bid.
Ramaswamy, 39, already filed the necessary paperwork, Fox News reported, and he will formally announce his candidacy on Feb. 24 in Cincinnati.
According to the report, Ramaswamy filed the required Designation of Treasurer form with the Ohio Secretary of State on Friday, with the filing being named “Vivek Ramaswamy For Ohio.”
His supposed campaign website also hinted that Ramaswamy would have “a big announcement” coming shortly, and had been paid for by “Vivek Ramaswamy For Ohio.”
Ramaswamy was originally selected by President Donald Trump to lead the formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside Elon Musk, though he stepped down shortly thereafter.
With incumbent GOP Gov. Mike DeWine’s term ending, Ramaswamy will enter the GOP primary field with candidates like Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and Heather Hill, a former member of the Buckeye State’s Martin Luther King Jr. Commission, the New York Post reported.
