President Trump lauded the success of his social media venture, Truth Social, over the weekend, writing on the platform that April had been the “biggest month” of traffic on the site so far.

He wrote, “April is the biggest month of Traffic on TRUTH SOCIAL, by far. It has become one of the most important ‘Voices’ in the Universe, because it is my Voice, but the Fake News, most of which is dying, or dead, refuses to report on it, or its relevance.”

President Trump initially launched Truth Social for beta testing in February 2022. The app first became available in the Apple Store and snagged the number one spot for downloads. Since then, Truth Social has rolled out in the Android Store and the Google Play Store. There is also a desktop version for users.

Trump talked Truth Social with RSBN’s Brian Glenn in February

Trump Media & Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes told RSBN’s Grace Saldana in March that Truth Social was aimed at taking “the best aspects of Twitter and Instagram and Facebook and put it into one app.”

Truth Social sprung forth because of the rampant censorship experienced by conservatives on mainstream social media platforms. President Donald Trump, for example, was suspended from Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook in 2021. Truth Social has become an alternative to the censorship and suppression of other sites.

Trump’s Truth Social posts are often reposted on mainstream sites like Twitter and Instagram, where his message is amplified beyond the users on Truth Social. “’TRUTH’ SOCIAL HAS BECOME THE HOTTEST THING GOING,” Trump wrote in February. “I SAY IT LIKE IT IS!”

As reported by RSBN, Truth Social also rocketed to number one in the Google Play Store in October 2022, which Nunes called a “significant milestone in our mission to restore free speech online.”
