President Donald Trump attended the New York Yankees game on Thursday night, making his debut on the 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Sitting in a suite on the third base side, President Trump sat next to Yankees president Randy Levine and team owner Hal Steinbrenner, according to the Associated Press.
The president also saluted during the singing of the National Anthem, receiving loud cheers from baseball fans, with the crowd chanting “USA” during the anthem.
The “YMCA” was played later into the game, and the president spelled out the letters with his arms while seated.
The president left shortly after the seventh-inning stretch, which featured the singing of “God Bless America” and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” the Associated Press noted. He was shown on the stadium’s big screen three times, where the announcer said, “Welcome back, New York’s own, the 45th and 47th president.”
Earlier that same evening, President Trump visited the Yankees in the home clubhouse, shaking hands and conversing with players Aaron Judge and Anthony Volpe, Fox News reported.
The New York Yankees later defeated the Detroit Tigers on Thursday.
