President Donald Trump blasted Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., on Monday, calling him “the worst Republican Congressman” and signaling his intention to back a primary challenger to unseat the Kentucky lawmaker.

“Thomas Massie, the worst Republican Congressman, and an almost guaranteed NO VOTE each and every time, is an Embarrassment to Kentucky,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“He’s lazy, slow moving, and totally disingenuous — A real loser! Never has anything positive to add. Looking for someone good to run against this guy, someone I can Endorse and vigorously campaign for!” he added.

Trump’s post included a video from the group MAGA KY that called for Massie’s removal from office. “Let’s fire Thomas Massie,” the video’s narrator says.

Massie, known for his libertarian-leaning fiscal conservatism, has frequently opposed GOP leadership and was one of the few Republicans to vote against the Trump-supported “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” a sweeping legislative package backed by the administration.

Trump has repeatedly voiced his frustration with Massie. In a previous Truth Social post last month, the president said Massie “is not MAGA,” and promised that “we will have a wonderful American Patriot running against him in the Republican Primary, and I’ll be out in Kentucky campaigning really hard.”

In March, Trump wrote, “Congressman Thomas Massie, of beautiful Kentucky, is an automatic ‘NO’ vote on just about everything, despite the fact that he has always voted for Continuing Resolutions in the past. HE SHOULD BE PRIMARIED, and I will lead the charge against him.”

The president continued, “He’s just another GRANDSTANDER, who’s too much trouble, and not worth the fight. He reminds me of Liz Chaney before her historic, record breaking fall (loss!). The people of Kentucky won’t stand for it, just watch. DO I HAVE ANY TAKERS???”

Despite Trump’s opposition, Massie has drawn high-profile support from billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, who has publicly indicated he will contribute to Massie’s re-election effort.

Massie previously responded harshly to Trump’s attacks in a post to X.

“Someone thinks they can control my voting card by threatening my re-election. Guess what? Doesn’t work on me. Three times I’ve had a challenger who tried to be more MAGA than me. None busted 25% because my constituents prefer transparency and principles over blind allegiance,” he wrote.
