President Donald Trump fired away at allegations that he had anything less than perfect phone calls with the Georgia secretary of state in 2020 following the presidential election.
“BOTH of my phone calls to Georgia were PERFECT,” the 45th president wrote in a statement posted to Truth Social on Thursday. “I had an absolute right to make them &, in fact, the story on the one call was given a retraction, or an apology, by the Washington Post because they were given terribly false information about it, & when they heard the actual call, they realized that their story was wrong.”
President Trump was primarily referring to a phone call he made to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger following the 2020 presidential election that was misquoted by The Washington Post.
“Thank you to the W.P.,” Trump continued in his statement. “I, as does anyone else (just look at the Democrats!), have the absolute right to challenge the results of an Election. This one, CORRUPT, RIGGED & STOLEN!”
Georgia has been a hotbed of election fraud allegations and reported irregularities since the 2020 election. Election integrity group VoterGA alleged in June that massive fraud during the 2020 presidential race resulted in a reported 1.7 million ballot images being lost or destroyed.
Even more disturbingly, in April, True the Vote released a video of a woman stuffing ballots into a drop box in Gwinnett County, Georgia, in 2020. President Trump remarked, “When will the Republicans finally act. Not only was the 2020 Election Rigged, but they’ll do it again.”
Trump further slammed allegations that he made inappropriate phone calls to Georgia, pointing out that Democrats “cheated” in the Peach State.
“I did NOTHING wrong in Georgia, but others did,” he said. “They CHEATED in the 2020 Presidential Election, and those are the ones that should be investigated (and prosecuted)! Letter to follow.”
