President Donald Trump’s anticipated Iowa rally was postponed over the weekend due to tornado warnings, but that didn’t stop him from showing his appreciation for MAGA supporters in the wake of the cancellation.
In a video shared by the Trump campaign, the president called an Iowa couple and spoke to them about the rally postponement and thanked them for their support going into the 2024 presidential election.
“I just wanted to say hello to you and I’m looking forward to seeing you the next time – very, very special people,” Trump said on the phone. “You’ve been right from the beginning, you’ve been with us, and you’ve been doing the Iowa caucuses for a long time. So I just wanted to say hello to you.”

Trump’s rally on Saturday was set to be held in Des Moines, but “due to Tornado Warnings,” the president noted on Truth Social that “we are forced to cancel today’s outdoor Rally at the Lauridsen Amphitheater.”
He added, “Stay tuned, we will reschedule soon! Be safe out there!”
Headed into the Iowa rally, Trump has held a staggering lead over the 2024 GOP primary field in a recent political poll. RSBN reported that Trump held a dominating lead in a McLaughlin & Associates poll that surveyed likely Republican Caucus voters in late April.
According to their findings, Trump led potential presidential rival Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., by 34 points in a field of potential and declared candidates and held a 22-point lead over DeSantis in a head-to-head primary battle.
The 45th president has been polling high on the heels of last year’s 2022 midterm elections, gaining ground over the field of primary candidates and broadening the gap on his lead.
A new poll from Co-efficient, for example, also found that among 2,295 likely Republican primary voters in May, President Trump maintains 63 percent approval and holds a 33-point lead over a field of candidates like Gov. DeSantis and former Republican South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.
