President Donald Trump called for accountability for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office over the weekend, slamming him for “BREAKING THE LAW BY USING A THE FAKE AND FULLY DISCREDITED TESTIMONY (EVEN BY SDNY) OF A CONVICTED LIAR, FELON AND JAILBIRD, MICHAEL COHEN” as the crux of potential indictments this week.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, “IT IS THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY OF MANHATTAN WHO IS BREAKING THE LAW BY USING THE FAKE AND FULLY DISCREDITED TESTIMONY (EVEN BY THE SDNY!) OF A CONVICTED LIAR, FELON AND JAILBIRD, MICHAEL COHEN, TO INCREDIBLY PERSECUTE, PROSECUTE, AND INDICT A FORMER PRESIDENT, AND NOW LEADING (BY FAR!) PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, FOR A CRIME THAT DOESN’T EXIST.”

“ALVIN BRAGG SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE CRIME OF ‘INTERFERENCE IN A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION,'” Trump concluded.

On Friday, rumors swirled that the Manhattan DA might be indicting Trump over old allegations from adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Per RSBN, Trump confirmed the rumors in a statement made to Truth Social, stating that he could possibly be “ARRESTED ON TUESDAY” of this week.

Perhaps in response to Trump’s call for accountability, House Republicans have demanded that Alvin Bragg turn over communications, testimony, and documents in a letter sent to his office on Monday.

“You are reportedly about to engage in an unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority: the indictment of a former President of the United States and current declared candidate for that office,” the letter read. “This indictment comes after years of your office searching for a basis – any basis – on which to bring charges, ultimately settling on a novel legal theory untested anywhere in the country and one that federal authorities declined to pursue.”

The letter further noted, “Your decision to pursue such a politically motivated prosecution – while adopting progressive criminal justice policies that allow career ‘criminals [to] run [] the streets’ of Manhattan – requires congressional scrutiny about how public safety funds appropriated by Congress are implemented by local law-enforcement agencies.”

The letter was signed by Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, who chairs the Committee on the Judiciary, along with Rep. Bryan Steil, R-Wis., the Chairman of the Committee on House Administration, and Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., who is serving as the chairman on the Committee on Oversight and Accountability.

The letter was also signed by ranking members of each prospective committee, Rep. Jerrold Nadler, R-N.Y., Rep. Joseph Morrelle, R-N.Y., and Rep. Jamie Raskin, R-Md.

They have asked Bragg to hand over all documents and communications between the New York County District Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Department of Justice regarding their investigation of Trump, as well as information related to “former employees Carey Dunne and Mark Pomerantz” and the New York County District Attorney Office’s “receipt and use of federal funds.”
