At the America First Policy Institute summit hosted in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, President Donald Trump delivered a keynote speech focused heavily on law and order, calling on cities to address the rising homelessness problem.
President Trump proposed a solution that includes moving homeless individuals into “large parcels of inexpensive land in the outer reaches of the cities” with “high-quality tents” and medical professionals on standby to treat them.
“Perhaps some people would not like hearing this, but the only way you’re going to remove the hundreds of thousands of people, and maybe throughout our nation millions of people, and help make our cities clean, safe and beautiful again, is to open up large parcels of inexpensive land in the outer reaches of the cities,” the president stated.
“Bring medical professionals including doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, drug rehab specialists,” the president added. He also advocated for the creation of permanent bathrooms in such areas.
To critics who might claim that it would be “horrible” to move people out, Trump articulated, “what’s horrible is what’s happening now.”
“You have to move people out… Because now they’re in tents, but most of them aren’t even tents that function,” he said.
In the same speech, the president railed against Democrat-run “war zones,” calling out Democrats’ disastrous policies spurring crime and violence across the country, as previously reported.
“If we don’t have safety, we don’t have freedom, we don’t have a country,” Trump stated amid a spike in homicide rates in multiple cities across the nation, which he predicted would happen under a Joe Biden presidency.
On the border crisis, Trump noted, “it’s time to get brutally tough on the dealers and traffickers and narcoterrorism cartels who are stealing over 200,000 American lives a year” and called to secure the southern border.
