President Donald Trump spoke out against President Joe Biden’s recent commuted sentences against convicted murderers and rapists, vowing he will “vigorously pursue” the death penalty to protect Americans.

Trump shared the comments in a Tuesday Truth Social post that cited a New York Post report concerning Biden’s recent actions.

“As soon as I am inaugurated, I will direct the Justice Department to vigorously pursue the death penalty to protect American families and children from violent rapists, murderers, and monsters. We will be a Nation of Law and Order again!” he wrote.

Biden commuted 40 prisoners on Monday, including 37 of the 40 death row prisoners, giving them life sentences without parole instead.

“Make no mistake: I condemn these murderers, grieve for the victims of their despicable acts, and ache for all the families who have suffered unimaginable and irreparable loss,” Biden wrote in a statement on Monday.

“But guided by my conscience and my experience as a public defender, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Vice President, and now President, I am more convinced than ever that we must stop the use of the death penalty at the federal level,” he added. “In good conscience, I cannot stand back and let a new administration resume executions that I halted.”

Trump also posted a second reaction to Biden’s commutations on Monday.

“Joe Biden just commuted the Death Sentence on 37 of the worst killers in our Country. When you hear the acts of each, you won’t believe that he did this. Makes no sense. Relatives and friends are further devastated. They can’t believe this is happening!” he stated.

The controversial decision followed Biden’s announcement earlier this month that he was pardoning his son Hunter Biden.

Trump shared the response on his Truth Social within hours of Biden announcing that he was pardoning his son from past criminal activities.

“Does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years? Such an abuse and miscarriage of Justice!” Trump responded.

Kentucky Republican Rep. James Comer also joined Trump in blasting Biden’s pardon.

“Joe Biden has lied from start to finish about his family’s corrupt influence peddling activities. Not only has he falsely claimed that he never met with his son’s foreign business associates and that his son did nothing wrong, but he also lied when he said he would not pardon Hunter Biden,” Comer wrote on X.
