President Donald Trump basked in the glory of a big projected win in the Hawkeye State on Monday night, marking his first resounding victory in his fight to recapture the White House in 2024.
The president took the stage in Des Moines, Iowa, late Monday night after multiple media outlets strongly projected that he was the winner of the evening in the nation’s first GOP primary contest, which has been anticipated for months.
“I want to thank everybody – this has been some period, and most importantly we want to thank the great people of Iowa,” he said.
The president strongly called for unity nationwide in the wake of the projected win, explaining, “This is time for everybody, our country, to come together…we want to come together….It would be so nice if we could come together and straighten out the world and straighten out the problems.”
He said that this unity was “going to happen very soon.”
President Donald Trump also facetiously congratulated Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley “for having a great time together” and noted that despite their loss in the state, “they both did very well.”
Via RSBN, with 41.9 percent of precincts reporting, Trump was holding 52.7 percent of support, with that data coming from Decision Desk.
