President Donald Trump made a bold statement on Truth Social on the heels of the shocking and troubling “Twitter Files” released last week, courtesy of Elon Musk, the new CEO and owner of the social media platform.
“UNPRECEDENTED FRAUD REQUIRES UNPRECEDENTED CURE!” Trump wrote.
Trump’s statement was based on internal files released from Twitter showing evidence that major political players colluded with the tech giant to censor, suspend, and remove “disinformation” on the platform preceding the 2020 election.
Musk shared a link to writer Matt Taibbi, who explained the documents in a series of tweets. “By 2020, requests from connected actors to delete tweets were routine,” he wrote. “One executive would write to another: ‘More to review from the Biden team.’ The reply would come back: ‘Handled.’”
Attached to that tweet was a screenshot of a list of URLs connected to supposedly problematic tweets that had allegedly been requested for censorship.
Conservative filmmaker and author Dinesh D’Souza posed the question on Twitter for users: “So can we now conclude beyond a reasonable doubt that the 2020 election was rigged and stolen?” According to a poll of his followers on Twitter, 89 percent agreed with that sentiment, while only 11 percent disagreed.
“ELECTION INTERFERENCE AT A LEVEL NEVER SEEN BEFORE!!!” Trump also added on Truth Social.
The president has long decried the illegality of the 2020 presidential election, calling it “rigged and stolen” many times over the past two years. In fact, in a scathing letter sent to the Jan. 6 Committee in October, Trump titled his rebuttal to their vote to subpoena him “PEACEFULLY AND PATRIOTICALLY.” The opening line read, “THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2020 WAS RIGGED AND STOLEN.”
“I am glad that everyone is now seeing the light on what I have been saying loud and clear for the last two years, that the 2020 Presidential Election was rigged and stolen by a combination of Democrats, Big Tech, ‘law enforcement,’ and other bad actors,” Trump stated on Friday on Truth Social.
