In a Saturday statement on Truth Social, President Trump called out Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk for making allegedly duplicitous statements about his voting history.

“Elon never told me he only voted for Democrats,” Trump said. “In fact, he told me he voted for ‘Trump,’ and would do so again. Now he’s going to pay a big price for signing a bad contract for a bad company.”

Musk stated in May that he had “voted overwhelmingly for Democrats, historically, overwhelmingly. Like, I’m not sure – I might never have voted for a Republican, just to be clear. Now, this election I will.”

Additionally, Musk added in a statement on Twitter that he had voted for Democrats in the past because they “were the (mostly) kindness party.” He added, “But they have become the party of division and hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican.”

This is not the first time President Trump has weighed in on Musk’s comments about never having voted Republican.

“Gee, Elon Musk never told me that until now he only voted for Democrats,” Trump quipped on Truth Social in late May. “Actually, it was quite the contrary, but now it seems, with all of his problems with a probably illegal purchase of a crummy phony account loaded company, Fake Twitter, he wants to be a Republican because the Dems ‘are a party of hate.’ I could have told him that a long time ago…”

Musk further made headlines on Friday for terminating his $44 billion deal to buy the social media platform Twitter.

Trump previously predicted the deal’s termination in May, stating, “I think Twitter is going down.” He also said that Musk was “unlikely” to close on “his ridiculous deal with them after having learned so much about the massive number of Bots and Fake Accounts that people using Twitter must endure.”
