President Trump took failed Republican Colorado Senate nominee Joe O’Dea to task on Monday in a blistering statement, lambasting candidates who shifted their policy priorities after winning their primaries and dumping the MAGA agenda.
“Joe O’Dea lost his race in Colorado by over 12 points because he campaigned against MAGA,” Trump wrote in an official statement. “Likewise, candidates who shifted their ‘messaging’ after winning big in the Primaries (Bolduc!) saw big losses in the General.”
Don Bolduc was the U.S. Republican Senate nominee in New Hampshire who lost to Democrat Sen. Maggie Hassan this midterm cycle. O’Dea was considered a moderate Republican in the Colorado Senate race and lost his election to Colorado incumbent Democrat Sen. Michael Bennett, per Fox News.
Via RSBN, O’Dea specifically drew the ire of Trump and his loyal voting base this fall when the Senate nominee unwisely told CNN that if the 45th president ran for office again in 2024, he would “actively campaign against Donald Trump and make sure that we’ve got four or five really great Republicans right now.”
Trump responded to O’Dea’s comments, noting, “MAGA doesn’t Vote for stupid people with big mouths! Good luck Joe!”
O’Dea’s midterm loss in Colorado seems to indicate that Trump’s prediction was correct.
“Will they ever learn their lesson?” Trump continued in his Monday statement. “You can’t win without MAGA!”
Trump’s warning to weak-kneed Republican candidates came on the heels of “232 wins and only 22 losses” this midterm season, according to the president.
Trump spent the entirety of 2022 staging powerful “Save America” rallies around the country, rallying for strong America First candidates – most of whom rocketed to success in the general election.
In fact, the House of Representatives officially fell under majority Republican control following the midterms, as reported by RSBN.
