President Donald Trump’s upward momentum in the 2024 GOP primary polls is unrivaled, and his popularity among Florida voters suggests that he is on a trajectory to win the Republican nomination in a landslide.

Although Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is running for president in 2024, Floridians seem to have rejected his bid for the White House in favor of Trump and his MAGA movement.

In fact, Trump has captured 60 percent of Florida GOP primary voters’ support, according to a new survey from the University of North Florida’s Public Opinion Research Lab.

The Palm Beach Post (PBP) reported that Gov. DeSantis was a distant runner-up to Trump, coming in with just 21 percent of support, while former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley earned six percent.

The poll is a significant sign that DeSantis’s campaign may soon be reaching its midnight hour, even as the Florida governor recently clinched an endorsement from Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) this week.

Interestingly, President Trump aided both Gov. DeSantis and Gov. Reynolds in their initial bids to clinch the governorships in their respective states.

Trump has unflinchingly called Gov. Reynolds out for being “disloyal” and warned that her rejection of his leadership of MAGA would ultimately result in the “end of her political career.”

Regardless of Reynolds’ endorsement of DeSantis, the Florida governor is trailing by wide margins in the state of Iowa, as well as his home state (+26 points).

Per the PBP, the faculty director and professor of political science at the University of Northern Florida, Michael Binder, explained that DeSantis’s lack of support in his home state “doesn’t bode well for his national campaign.”

The results from this newest poll come just one day before the third Republican Debate is set to take place in Miami. President Trump is once again planning on upstaging the event by holding a rally in Hialeah, Florida, on the same evening.
