President Donald Trump celebrated another global trade deal win. An agreement was reached with the Republic of Indonesia that allows American-made products to be sold in the nation at a zero tariff rate.
Trump praised the deal on Truth Social, stating, “It is agreed that Indonesia will be Open Market to American Industrial and Tech Products, and Agricultural Goods, by eliminating 99% of their Tariff Barriers. The United States of America will now sell American-made products to Indonesia at a Tariff Rate of ZERO, while Indonesia will pay 19% on all of their products coming into the U.S.A. — The Best Market in the World!” he added.
He went on to describe how Indonesia will also send the U.S. critical minerals as well as work out future deals to purchase American energy, farm machinery, and aircraft. “This Deal is a HUGE WIN for our Automakers, Tech Companies, Workers, Farmers, Ranchers, and Manufacturers,” he concluded.
According to the White House Fact Sheet on the subject, this deal also promotes the sale of American-made cars in Indonesia, removes barriers to digital trade and eliminates unnecessary regulations on American-made imports to the area.
In addition, Indonesia has agreed to ban forced labor imports and remove restrictions on unions and workers that hinder their right to collective bargaining and freedom of association, delivering a significant win for workers’ rights.
President Trump had discussed the developing deal last week in a clip on Fox News, promising, “We have FULL access to Indonesia…We will pay no tariffs.”
This comes just as a new trade deal with Japan was also announced, increasing the number of promises that have been kept. These added Trump policy wins, increasing the growing list of economic achievements reached in just six months of leadership.
