Trump celebrates milestone political victory in Florida

President Trump took to Truth Social on Thursday to celebrate a major political accomplishment in Florida. The Republican Party now holds a major lead over the Democratic Party in voter registration.

“Another very big and successful week of WINS for Republicans in Florida, a State that I love, and WON BIG, in 2016, 2020, and 2024,” Trump said. “The Republican Party of Florida’s Voter Registration lead over Democrats is now over 1.25 Million – a New and Record Level of SUCCESS!”

Although it was once considered a critical swing state, Republicans have continued to solidify their electoral advantage in Florida since Trump’s first term in office. Trump won the state of Florida by a slim margin in 2016. His lead in the state expanded in both the 2020 and 2024 elections. The most recent election showcased the biggest victory for a Republican presidential nominee since 1988, with Trump winning by 13 points.

Trump’s post also highlighted critical demographic shifts in historically left-wing areas, including Florida’s Miami-Dade County.

“Florida’s largest County, Miami-Dade, has FLIPPED RED to a Republican Majority in Voter Registration, and Republicans lead in a total of 59 out of 67 Counties across the State,” Trump said. “‘TRUMP’ was the first Republican Presidential Candidate to win Miami-Dade since 1988. THANK YOU FLORIDA — MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Miami-Dade County completed its voter roll maintenance on Monday, showcasing a landmark Republican advantage in voter registration numbers in an area that has historically been dominated by the Democratic Party. Republicans represented 34 percent of voters, compared to Democratic voters at 32 percent.

Gov. Ron DeSantis made history by winning Miami-Dade County during his reelection bid in the 2022 statewide election. The trend of Miami-Dade shifting towards Republicans continued in the 2024 presidential election when Trump became the first Republican presidential candidate to win the county in 36 years.
