First Lady Melania Trump has released an audiobook of her New York Times bestselling memoir, “Melania,” by using the power of artificial intelligence, paving the way toward a futuristic horizon in publishing.
“I am honored to bring you Melania – The AI Audiobook – narrated entirely using artificial intelligence in my own voice,” Mrs. Trump wrote on X, via her personal account.
She added, “Let the future of publishing begin.”
According to her official website, the English audiobook version of her memoir, which was released last year just before the 2024 presidential election, is available for purchase now.
“Melania Trump is breaking new ground in publishing with Melania: The Audiobook, created entirely with artificial intelligence audio technology,” the site description reads. “The narrator is an AI-generated replica of Melania Trump’s voice, created under Mrs. Trump’s direction and supervision.”
Foreign language versions will release in Fall 2025, according to her site.
The audiobook is seven hours long and costs $25 to purchase.
AI-audiobook narration is becoming increasingly popular, and as this rising technology is becoming grafted into all aspects of modern life, the First Lady has chosen to embrace it.
According to Bloomberg, over 40,000 AI-narrated books on Amazon’s audiobook platform, Audible, were for sale as of May 2024.
“Over 40,000 books in Audible are marked as having been created with it, and, in posts online, authors praise the fact that they have saved hundreds or thousands of dollars per title on narration costs,” the outlet reported.
To illustrate the growing market for audiobooks, in 2024, the United States exceeded $2 billion in audiobook sales, according to Publishers Weekly.
The First Lady’s AI-fueled audiobook comes amid her busy schedule advocating for the values of her youth-centered BE BEST initiative. Additionally, Mrs. Trump will take center stage in a documentary about her life, which will premiere on Amazon Prime Video, sometime in 2025, RSBN previously reported.
