President Donald Trump celebrated a new $4 billion stadium deal on Monday that will return the District of Columbia’s NFL team within the city’s limits.

The president commented on the new plan in a post to his Truth Social account, stating that he aims to make Washington, D.C., great again.

“I am thrilled to announce that the Washington Football Team will be returning to our Nation’s Capital! The new Stadium Deal is a HUGE WIN for Washington, D.C., and for the Team’s incredible fan base,” Trump wrote.

“It will also boost Economic Development, create more Jobs and, hopefully, lead to less Crime in the area. We are making Washington, D.C., GREAT AGAIN, one step at a time!” he continued.

The new 65,000-seat stadium is set to be built at the team’s former RFK Stadium, where the team played its home games until 1996. The proposed stadium is estimated for completion in 2030.

The proposed plan will include approximately $1.1 billion from the city over eight years. The development would extend beyond the stadium, including housing development in the surrounding neighborhoods.

“We want to bring the Commanders home with a new RFK that our fans will love, our opponents will fear,” team owner Josh Harris said at a news conference. “It’ll be loud. We want to make it about football, but also about the city and the community, and we want to host the biggest and best events in the world.”

Mayor Muriel Bowser also rejoiced at the deal to bring the NFL team back to the city.

“This land has been blighted and underutilized for too long, and what our deal with the Washington Commanders provides is the fastest and surest route to developing the RFK campus and not just delivering sports and entertainment, but delivering housing, jobs, recreation and economic development,” Bowser said.

The news was announced on the same day that the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles visited the White House with President Trump.

“It’s an honor to be with this incredible group of champions, a great team, and we’re thrilled to welcome everyone to the White House, a special place, and to celebrate the Super Bowl 59 champions, the Philadelphia Eagles,” Trump announced in front of the White House.
