President Donald Trump celebrated GOP primary wins on Tuesday following a special election in Florida to replace former Republican Reps. Matt Gaetz and Mike Waltz.
Trump posted images of the two GOP primary winners, Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis and Randy Fine, on his Truth Social account after the projected victories.
Trump shared his support for Patronis in November, encouraging him to run after Gaetz said he would not return to his position in the House after a brief nomination to become the nation’s Attorney General.
“Jimmy Patronis, Chief Financial Officer for the Great State of Florida, has done a tremendous job as CFO, where he also serves as the State’s Fire Marshall, and as an important member of the Florida Cabinet. I hear that Jimmy is now considering launching a Campaign for Congress in Florida’s 1st Congressional District!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.
“A fourth generation Floridian from the beautiful Panhandle, and owner of an iconic seafood restaurant, Jimmy has been a wonderful friend to me, and to MAGA. As your next Congressman, Jimmy would work tirelessly alongside of me to Grow our Economy, Secure our Border, Stop Migrant Crime, Strengthen our Incredible Military/Vets, Restore American Energy DOMINANCE, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment,” he continued.
“Should he decide to enter this Race, Jimmy Patronis has my Complete and Total Endorsement. RUN, JIMMY, RUN!” Trump concluded.
“Put me to work, Mr. President! @realDonaldTrump I am here to serve,” Patronis posted on X alongside a copy of Trump’s statement of support.
The general election date for the special election is scheduled in Florida for April 1. Gaetz previously won his district with 66 percent of the vote, with Patronis likely to win.
Fine is also expected to win the 6th District which leans Republican after Tuesday’s primary win.
“Mr. President, [God] saved you on that day in Butler so that you could save the world. It would be the honor of my life to be one of your footsoldiers. Your confidence is overwhelming and I will have news to share soon!” Fine wrote Monday in a post on X.
