President Donald Trump gave a mic-dropping response Tuesday to a reporter when answering a question regarding the choice of location for his speech addressing his policy platform.
Trump delivered a nearly hour long campaign speech in Howell, Michigan, to address voters about issues like law enforcement, border security and immigration. While Harris’ campaign called out Trump’s choice of location due to its historic ties to the Ku Klux Klan, the 45th president snapped back when asked by a reporter about it.
“Who was here in 2021?” Trump asked.
“Joe Biden,” a reporter could be heard saying
“Thank you,” Trump said as the crowd erupted.
The Harris campaign called out the 45th president’s choice of location Tuesday, with Michigan communications director, Alyssa Bradley, stating he was “choosing to rally in a town that was historically known as āthe KKK capital of Michigan,'” according to The Hill.
Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt hit back against the connection, echoing Trump’s response of Biden visiting the town in 2021.
“Did the media write this same story when Joe Biden visited Howell in 2021, or when Kamala Harris visits cities where racist protests and marches have occurred in the past? No, of course not, because the mainstream serves as a divisive, anti-Trump, mouthpiece for the Democrat Party,” Leavitt said, The Hill reported.
With long ties to the KKK, Howell, Michigan saw protesters march through the town last month as they waved flags in support of white supremacy and reportedly chanted in support of Trump, according to the outlet.
However, Biden also held a campaign event in 2021 within the city, giving remarks at the Operating Engineers 324 training center.
