As he works to make the nation’s capital safer, President Donald Trump visited law enforcement in Anacostia, along with members of the Washington, D.C. National Guard, even delivering pizza and hamburgers to the group.
This comes shortly after the president told media members he would go on patrol with the guard to review the effects of their crackdown on crime, homelessness and illegal immigration in the capital, RSBN previously reported.
While visiting the operations center for the U.S. Park Police along the Anacostia River on Thursday, the president thanked law enforcement for their work.
“I feel very safe now, and I’m hearing people are very safe,” President Trump told the crowd of approximately 300 federal employees, according to JustTheNews.
He continued, “You people are winners. And I just think it’s really, it’s such an honor to be with you. And we’re going to make Washington, D.C., great again … We’re going to make it safe, and we’re going to go on to other places, but we’re going to stay here for a while.”
The White House also announced Thursday that since sending the guard into the capital city, 630 arrests have been made, while 86 illegal guns were confiscated.
As reported by RSBN, there has already been a dramatic reduction in violent crime, carjacking, car theft, and robbery in the city in the one week since the president implemented control over the city and deployed the National Guard.
