President Donald Trump recently demanded that the Pulitzer Prize board rescind the awards given to left-leaning news media outlets for their “inaccurate, inept, and corrupt” coverage of the Russia hoax.
“The Russia, Russia, Russia hoax has been totally debunked,” Trump said Thursday through his Save America PAC. “The fake news media covered it incorrectly — reporting exactly the opposite of what actually happened. Yet, the Pulitzer Board has not rescinded the prizes they awarded for reporting that was inaccurate, inept, and corrupt.”
The press release included President Trump’s letter to the Pulitzer board, stating that its defense of the 2018 awards to the New York Times and Washington Post opened members to be held liable for “defamatory” statements, the Washington Examiner reported.
Last year, President Trump also asked the board to revoke the awards, saying, “I call on the Pulitzer Prize Board to immediately rescind the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting awarded to the staffs of The New York Times and The Washington Post, which was based on false reporting of a non-existent link between the Kremlin and the Trump Campaign, per RSBN.
Trump then called the board “too embarrassed” to respond to his October 2021 letter slamming the board’s decision to award the biased news outlets.
“For two years, these institutions feverishly pushed one Russia story after another and – despite lacking any credible evidence – attempted to persuade the public that my campaign had colluded with the Russian government,” Trump wrote in his letter to the board, according to RSBN.
Even though the Russian collusion narrative has since been debunked, the Pulitzer board still refuses to rescind the awards. The board claims that two independent reviews of the story found that “no passages or headlines, contentions or assertions in any of the winning submissions were discredited by facts that emerged subsequent to the conferral of the prizes,” RSBN further reported.
“The 2018 Pulitzer Prizes in National Reporting stand,” the board ruled.
Nonetheless, Trump said Thursday that if the Pulitzer Prize Board wants to restore its credibility, it “should take away prizes from all who got it wrong” and “award new prizes to all those who got it right.”
