Trump discusses providence and destiny in D.C.: ‘Blessed are the peacemakers’

President Donald Trump delivered a second set of faith-centered remarks on Thursday morning in Washington, D.C., at the Washington Hilton, joining faith leaders for a reflection on the role God’s hand has played in American history and, assuredly, her future.

The president acknowledged the importance of having “unyielding faith in America’s mission that inspires us to make our country great again and soon, it will be greater than ever before.”

“Here in America we are, once again, a nation that believes in ourselves, we believe in our destiny, and we trust in the providence of Almighty God,” he stated.

President Trump also elevated the rapid and “common sense” changes taking place in the Oval Office since taking office just a little over two weeks ago.

“Over the past two weeks our strength has been restored, our spirit has been revived, and a new national momentum has been sweeping across our land – the Golden Age of America has officially begun,” he said.

The president drew attention to the rapid strides he has made toward peace since taking office – and even before. He highlighted the ceasefire and hostage agreement his team helped secure in the Middle East before he was even inaugurated.

Trump referred to Matthew 5:9, which reads: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.”

The president said he hoped his “greatest legacy” would be one of a “peacemaker and a unifier.”

In attendance, the president said, were several people whose family members were taken hostage in the horrific October 7, 2023, attacks in Israel, perpetrated by terrorist group Hamas. Survivors of the attack were also at the ceremony, according to the president.

“As president I will not rest until every remaining hostage has been returned to their families,” he vowed.

President Trump also made a policy announcement during his remarks at this second prayer event regarding the protection of Christian faith in America.

To “eradicate” weaponization and religious persecution in America, the president said he would sign an executive order on Thursday to make newly-minted Attorney General Pam Bondi “the head of a task force…to eradicate anti-Christian bias.”

He further announced that he will create the “White House Faith Office,” to be led by Paula White, whom he called “so amazing.”
