President Donald Trump remains the frontrunner as the Republican primary inches closer to the Iowa Caucus.

As reported by FiveThirtyEight, the 45th president is trouncing his existing and potential opponents in an updated poll surveying the preferences of Iowa voters. Commanding a 30-point lead in a six-way ballot contest, Donald Trump is the Republican primary favorite among the participants.

As expected, Governor Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., places second with a comfortable lead over the other competitors. However, DeSantis does not fare well in a head-to-head match with Trump.

When asked for their preferred 2024 presidential pick, voters chose President Trump by a margin of 19 points over the Florida governor.

Interestingly, Victory Insights, revealed that President Trump performs better with “lower class” Americans whereas DeSantis draws more attraction from wealthier voters. “In our Florida poll, we discovered an interesting trend that suggested that DeSantis performs best among the upper class, while Trump performs best among the lower class,” states Ben Galbraith.

Simultaneously, the research shows the voting base for both contenders is constant in Iowa as well. Trump “dominates” blue-collar America in the Hawkeye state, but only nets a 6-point favorability among the upper class.

Furthermore, Donald Trump continues to outpace all primary challengers according to a national poll conducted by the Washington Post and ABC News.

“In an open-ended question that did not offer names of candidates, 43 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents volunteer Trump as their choice for the party’s nomination,” cited the Washington Post. The final results showed that volunteers selected Trump by 51 percent as their representative with DeSantis placing second with only 25 percent of the vote.

The race to the White House for Republicans begins with the Iowa Caucus on Feb. 5, 2024. Traditionally, the Iowa Caucus has served as a litmus test for the success of its winner as the odds of becoming the party’s nominee have increased for past candidates. Encouraging for Trump, Victory Insights predicts that Trump has a “100% chance of victory if the caucuses were held today.”
