President Trump endorses ‘America First Patriot’ in Texas Senate runoff

President Trump has announced his endorsement for the GOP Senate primary race. On Tuesday, Trump shared a post on Truth Social supporting Attorney General Ken Paxton as the Republican candidate.

“The Highly Respected Attorney General of Texas, Ken Paxton, an America First Patriot, and someone who has always been extremely loyal to me and our AMAZING MAGA MOVEMENT, is running for the United States Senate, to represent a place I love and WON, BIG, three times, with 6.4 Million Votes in 2024 (The Most Votes in the History of the State, BY FAR)!” President Trump said. “I know Ken well, have seen him tested at the highest and most difficult levels, and he is a WINNER!”

The initial primary election on March 3 resulted in a close split between current GOP Senator John Cornyn and Paxton, with Cornyn receiving 41.9 percent and Paxton receiving 40.7 percent of the vote. Rep. Wesley Hunt, R-Texas, received 13.5 percent of the vote. Since no candidate received a majority, Cornryn and Paxton are headed to a runoff election on May 26.

Trump has held off on publicly endorsing either candidate in the hotly contested race. The announcement comes as Trump continues to urge the Senate to end the filibuster to advance his legislative agenda, particularly the SAVE America Act. In sharing his support for Paxton, Trump indicated his willingness to support the legislation was a factor.

“Ken is a Strong Supporter of TERMINATING THE FILIBUSTER and, very importantly, THE SAVE AMERICA ACT, something which polls at 87%, including Dumocrats, and yet can’t seem to get approved,” President Trump said. Trump issued some praise for Cornryn, but shared he was ultimately not supportive enough of either Trump’s nomination or his legislative agenda.

“John Cornyn is a good man, and I worked well with him, but he was not supportive of me when times were tough,” President Trump said. “John was very late in backing me in what turned out to be a Historic Run for the Republican Nomination, and then, the Presidency, itself, both of which were Landslide Victories and, more importantly, gave us the Country that we have today — THE GOLDEN AGE OF AMERICA.”

Trump stressed the importance of ensuring his agenda is approved by Congress in order to avoid a return to the policies of the Biden administration, and to protect against the more radical Democrat objectives such as adding additional states or packing the Supreme Court.

“Ken Paxton has gone through a lot, in many cases, very unfairly, but he is a Fighter, and knows how to WIN. Our Country needs Fighters, and also Loyalty to the Cause of Greatness. We can never allow what happened to the United States of America during the Corrupt Biden Administration, to happen again,” President Trump said. “WE HAVE ALREADY MADE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, BUT NOW, WE WANT TO MAKE OUR NATION BETTER THAN EVER BEFORE. Therefore, Ken Paxton has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next United States Senator from the Great State of Texas.”
