Secretary of State Marco Rubio took action to ensure that an illegal alien previously convicted of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl has been arrested and deported.

“Just weeks ago, a convicted sex offender and a foreign national shielded from deportation by the Governor of Minnesota, Laotian national Tou Lue Vang, was convicted of repeatedly sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl in the state of Minnesota,” said Rubio in a video statement.

Rubio said that just days before Vang was set to be deported, Democrat Minnesota Governor Tim Walz issued the offender a pardon.

“This week, I revoked his legal status in the United States and as a result, federal agents took him into custody and as of today he has been removed from the United States,” Rubio stated. “Because of our actions this foreign criminal will never pose a threat to any American ever again.”

He added, “Americans must never be forced by their elected leaders to live alongside foreign sex criminals who have no right to begin with to reside in our country.”

According to the Department of Homeland Security, Vang was convicted in 2006 of first-degree criminal sexual conduct for repeatedly assaulting a girl between 2002 and 2004.

“He once offered his victim $10 to keep quiet about the sexual assaults,” the DHS stated in a press released. “When interviewed by police, he tried to justify his actions as ‘a cultural thing,’ and even said that his victim was just as guilty as him and should also be arrested.”

Vang received a final order of removal in 2006 by a DOJ immigration judge, the agency said. However, Vang was granted clemency by the Minnesota Board of Pardons. Gov. Tim Walz is part of the board.

“ICE deported Tou Vang, an illegal alien convicted child rapist. This monster repeatedly sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis in a statement. “Tim Walz pardoned this sex criminal in an attempt to allow him to remain in our country. These are the criminal illegal aliens he and sanctuary politicians are protecting. We will always put the safety of the American people first.”
