President Trump will reportedly attend the Army-Navy football game next Saturday, according to a report from Politico.
The 125th game will begin on Saturday, Dec. 14, kicking off in Landover, Maryland.
While Joe Biden has never attended this matchup as president, his successor previously spectated three times during his first term, and once as president-elect in 2016, Politico reported.
Historically, U.S. presidents have attended this game since 1901, when Theodore Roosevelt, who fought in the army prior to serving as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, reportedly spent half the game on the Army side, and half with the Navy.
The Army’s team, the Black Knights, will sport black uniforms with white markings honoring the 101st Airborne Division in World War II with their services during the Battle of the Bulge, according to one report.
Second-year Navy head coach Brian Newberry will be aiming for his first Army-Navy victory in his role as head coach.
In keeping with recent tradition, both teams will wear special uniforms inspired by historic military units within their respective branches.
Army will don black uniforms honoring the 101st Airborne Division, with a particular focus on its pivotal role in the Battle of the Bulge, the final major German offensive of World War II. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the battle, one of the most decisive of the war.
The game will take place just two days before the anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge’s start on December 16, 1944.
