President Trump shared extra insight into why former White House coronavirus task force advisor Dr. Deborah Birx left his administration in 2020 in a post written on Truth Social.
“Dr. Deborah Birx,” Trump wrote, “while working as a top health official in government, lost all credibility when she told people, in the strongest of terms, NOT TO TRAVEL DURING A MAJOR HOLIDAY because of the China Virus.”
He added, “She then traveled a very long distance to be with a large number of people within her family.”
In November 2020, Dr. Birx travelled to Delaware over Thanksgiving. According to a report from Fox News, Birx was allegedly accompanied by members of different households, despite her warning to Americans to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday only with their immediate family to stay safe from the coronavirus.
“What she did was so shameful and egregious that her own family actually turned her in,” Trump remarked. “So cool! How much did they hate her?”
In December 2020, the BBC reported that Dr. Birx announced that she would be retiring, stating that the blowback she had received for her hypocritical behavior amid the pandemic had been “very difficult” on her family.
Interestingly, Dr. Birx recently made an appearance in West Palm Beach, Florida, at the Kravis Center, where she warned of a possible coronavirus surge this summer, Palm Beach Daily reported.
President Trump’s statement on Truth Social asserts that Dr. Birx did not retire, but rather the 45th president himself may have fired her himself after her holiday debacle in 2020. Another advisor on the White House coronavirus task force team, Dr. Fauci, has also been criticized for his flip-flopping advisories for American citizens related to treating and avoiding Covid.
“She had few dresses, many scarves, and no ‘class,” he wrote, jokingly referring to Birx’s wardrobe choices. She was often seen during White House briefings wearing colorful scarves. “I said, ‘You’re Fired!!!’” he added.
