Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) appeared to turn a blind eye to MAGA recently when news broke that she was planning to endorse Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., for president, despite President Trump’s dominance in the Hawkeye State with GOP voters.
Gov. Reynolds’ looming endorsement of DeSantis comes amid Trump’s comfortable 26-point lead in the state, according to The Trafalgar Group, with only two months to go until the important Iowa caucuses kick off the 2024 Republican presidential primary season.
Nationwide, President Trump is leading in the GOP primary polls with 61 percent of support, while DeSantis held 13 percent, according to the latest data from Morning Consult.
Trump warned on Truth Social, “If and when Kim Reynolds of Iowa endorses Ron DeSanctimonious, who is absolutely dying in the polls both in Iowa and Nationwide, it will be the end of her political career in that MAGA would never support her again, just as MAGA will never support DeSanctimonious again.”
He scorched the governor for being “disloyal” and joked that DeSantis and Reynolds “can now remain loyal to each other because nobody else wants them!!!”
Via Morning Consult, Gov. Reynolds ranked as America’s most “unpopular governor, with a 47% disapproval rating, up from 39 percent in the first quarter of 2023.”
DeSantis followed as a close second with a 45 percent disapproval rating, per the pollster’s data.
“That’s because people don’t like disloyalty!” Trump commented. He also stated that he had “opened the position for Reynolds, so she became Governor of Iowa, by moving Terry Branstad to China as Ambassador.”
President Trump further explained on Truth Social that Gov. Reynolds had told him that she was going to stay “NEUTRAL” in terms of endorsements in the great state of Iowa this year.
He continued, “I told her that I should have ‘remained neutral’ when she asked me to help her get elected, and that I didn’t want or need her to campaign with me. I am now 41+Points up in Iowa!”
