President Donald Trump has scored a 54-point lead in the Democrat-led state of North Carolina, a new poll shows.

Public Policy Polling (PPP) released a new report Monday, finding that Trump and Republican Lieutenant Gov. Mark Robinson have an “overwhelming” lead within their upcoming respective races for this year.

An interview with 619 likely Republican primary voters on Jan. 5-6 showed that the 45th president sits at 66 percent for the state, with former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley trailing behind at 12 percent and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 9 percent, according to PPP.

Robinson, who was endorsed by the 45th president in June 2023, is additionally leading the race for lieutenant governor by 40 points, with fellow Republican Bill Graham trailing behind at 15 percent, the PPP reported.

The report highlights that Robinson’s lead is heavily carried by Trump’s previous endorsement, stating that Republicans tend to say “they’re more likely to vote” for a Trump-endorsed candidate by a “33 point margin,” according to the polling report.

“One story the numbers for Governor tell is a tale of two endorsements. By a 33 point margin Republicans say they’re more likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by Donald Trump and you can see the benefits of having received that endorsement in Robinson’s strength,” the PPP stated.

North Carolina is led by Democrat Gov. Roy Cooper, who has held the position since 2017. The state’s board of elections data showed that about a third of registered voters are Democrats and a third are Republicans, according to the site.

The state voters have reportedly voted for 12 Republican U.S. Presidents and three Democrats, according to the state of board elections. Additionally, the site reported that voters have elected 11 Democrat governors and only four Republicans.
