President Trump may be stuck in New York City for the next several weeks, but he is generating buzz around the world ahead of the November general election.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, a friend and ally of President Trump, brought a message of unity and strength to Hungary’s CPAC event this week, taking aim at an increasingly globalist world that is encroaching on fundamental conservative beliefs and rights.
Via the Associated Press, Orban declared during a speech, “These elections coincide with major shifts in world political and geopolitical trends. The order of the world is changing, and we must usher our cause to triumph in the midst of these changes. Progressive liberals feel the danger. Replacing this era means replacing them.”
The prime minister spoke about the weaponization of government agencies against their political opponents, openly discussing President Trump’s fight against unprecedented legal warfare in the United States. He explained, “This happens to us Hungarians constantly in Brussels. This is what is happening to President Trump in America, and we encourage him to fight for his own truth not only in the elections, but also in the courts.”
His remarks were peppered with similar rhetoric used by President Trump. He spoke of restoring American “greatness” as well as European greatness. “Go, Donald Trump, go European sovereigntists! Let’s saddle our horses, put on our armor, go to the battlefield, and start the electoral battle!” he declared.
Earlier this year, PM Orban met with President Donald Trump at his home, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida. Following the visit, Orban wrote, “President @realDonaldTrump was a president of peace. He commanded respect in the world, and created the conditions for peace. During his presidency there was peace in the Middle East and peace in Ukraine. We need him back more than ever! Thank you for the invitation, Mr. President!”
President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump provided the prime minister with dinner, a reception, and music during his visit.
Now, as the general election looms on the horizon in the United States, Orban has turned out to be one of Trump’s strongest allies on the world stage.
