President Trump told Nigel Farage, British broadcaster and former Brexit leader, that he believes that the 2020 election must be studied to ensure that elections are fair going forward.
Trump responded to a question from Farage about whether Trump and his supporters should look back to what happened during the 2020 election or look forward to making sure it never happens again.
Trump replied, “It has to be both…if you don’t study what took place and do something about it…if you don’t look back you really can’t look to the future.”
The 45th president then warned that unless lessons are learned from 2020, and election integrity reforms aren’t enacted, then he believes that “they are going to do something again” and that “I don’t think it is a foregone conclusion…people don’t want that to happen again.”
Trump has previously contested the idea that what happened on Jan. 6 was an “insurrection.” He countered that the real “insurrection” occurred during the 2020 election.
“The insurrection took place on November 3, Election Day. January 6 was the Protest!” said the 45th president.
Trump has derided Democrats and RINOs for wasting time investigating the events of Jan. 6 on Capitol Hill when they could be investigating allegations of voter fraud that may have taken place during the 2020 election.
Trump took aim at the congressional committee investigating the events of Jan. 6 in October, when he said, “The Unselect Committee of partisan Democrats, and two very weak and pathetic RINOs, should come to the conclusion after spending many millions of dollars, that the real insurrection happened on November 3rd, the Presidential Election, not on January 6th — which was a day of protesting the Fake Election results.”
During a February speech at CPAC in Orlando, Fla., Trump once again doubled down on his claim that the election was stolen from him and his supporters.
Trump said, “We have a very sick and corrupt electoral process that must be fixed immediately. This election was rigged, and the supreme court and other courts didn’t want to do anything about it.”
And in the days following the November 2020 election, Trump tweeted, “He [Joe Biden] only won in the eyes of the FAKE NEWS MEDIA,” Trump subsequently tweeted. “I concede NOTHING! We have a long way to go. This was a RIGGED ELECTION!”
President Trump continues to fight for election reform, and it doesn’t appear that he will be giving up the effort to fight for free and fair elections anytime soon.
