Amid a political battle with Chicago Democrats, President Donald Trump signaled on Tuesday that he may be ready to take action “soon” to secure the crime-ridden city amid rising violence.
“At least 54 people were shot in Chicago over the weekend, 8 people were killed,” the president wrote on Truth Social.
He added, “The last two weekends were similar. Chicago is the worst and most dangerous city in the World, by far. Pritzker needs help badly, he just doesn’t know it yet.”
According to Fox News, Labor Day was indeed a bloody weekend in the Windy City, with law enforcement struggling to keep up with 32 shooting incidents across the city, dozens of injuries, and a handful of deaths.
After President Trump’s successful federal crackdown on crime in Washington, D.C., he recently turned his attention to Chicago, a city run by Democrat Mayor Brandon Johnson and overseen by Illinois Democrat Governor JB Pritzker, who has strongly resisted such a crackdown in his state.
“I live rent-free in the president’s head,” Gov. Pritzker said recently to reporters. “I wish he would spend some time in Chicago, so he can see what a lovely city we have.”
Ironically, President Trump owns property in Chicago, including the Trump International Hotel & Tower near the Chicago River, and likely has spent considerable time in the city.
“I will solve the crime problem fast, just like I did in DC. Chicago will be safe again, and soon. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” President Trump said in his statement.
As reported by RSBN, Chicago Democrats have already taken action to attempt to halt President Trump’s proposed federal plan to clean up crime in the city. The mayor recently signed a local executive order aimed at directing city departments to “resist federal enforcement efforts” if they conflict with local policies.
Johnson commented that he believes federal assets could arrive in Chicago by September 5, per RSBN.
