President Trump oversaw the addition of two new flag poles on the White House grounds on Wednesday. The patriotic project is one of several initiatives that Trump has sought to implement at the White House for years.

Trump told reporters on Wednesday that he had always wondered why there were no flag poles on the grass at the White House. The new additions to the grounds will include one flag pole on the North lawn and one on the South lawn. Trump referred to the construction of the displays as a personal project, since he paid for the flag poles and directed their construction.

Trump commented on the project in a Truth Social post on Tuesday ahead of its completion.

“It is my Great Honor to announce that I will be putting up two beautiful Flag Poles on both sides of the White House, North and South Lawns. It is a GIFT from me of something which was always missing from this magnificent place,” Trump said.

“The digging and placement of the poles will begin at 7:30 A.M. EST, tomorrow morning. Flags will be raised at approximately 11 A.M. EST. These are the most magnificent poles made – They are tall, tapered, rust proof, rope inside the pole, and of the highest quality. Hopefully, they will proudly stand at both sides of the White House for many years to come!” he added.

President Trump has shown a personal interest in the construction projects taking place on the White House grounds and has been seen around the grounds visiting with construction crews.

“Only if you’re in construction is this exciting,” Trump said. “You have to get it perfectly straight and once it’s perfect, they pour in the sand and it’s there for 100 years.”

President Trump saluted the flag as it was raised on the new flag pole in a special ceremony on the White House lawn on Wednesday.
