The attempted assassination of President Donald Trump has displayed serious gaps in security measures to protect the 45th president.

While Trump’s survival and commitment to still attend the upcoming Republican National Convention (RNC) has displayed his fighting spirit, per RSBN, Trump Media & Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes drew attention to the need for stronger security measures.

He released a statement on the subject, which began by offering sympathy to the family of the rally attendee who was killed. “I offer my deepest sympathies to the family of the rally goer killed in Butler, Pennsylvania, and to those who were wounded.”

“I thank God President Trump survived the assassination attempt and is now safe,” Nunes added.

He went on to call for a federal investigation to ensure that no other individuals were involved in the shooting.

“I also call for the federal government to provide any security resources requested by President Trump to guarantee his safety,” Nunes then declared, concluding that, “America will overcome this despicable shooting and together, our nation will endure.”

Nunes and countless conservatives are questioning how the shooting took place after an eyewitness detailed that he and a group of friends spotted the gunman and tried to alert police and the Secret Service for minutes before shots were fired, via RSBN.

In addition, Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., accused Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas of denying additional Secret Service protection for President Donald Trump.

He posted to X after the assassination attempt on Saturday, stating, “I have very reliable sources telling me there have been repeated requests for stronger secret service protection for President Trump. Denied by Secretary Mayorkas.”

RSBN reported that Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., is leading the charge to host a Senate investigation into the attempt as Republicans look forward to President Trump’s attendance at the RNC this week.
