President Trump weighed in with his thoughts on whether Republicans would be able to stop the erosion of American prosperity after the midterms in an interview with Americano Media. Speaking to interviewer Lucia Navarro, Trump agreed that “the right Republican can fix it – it’s very much a presidential thing.”
He continued, referencing next week’s midterm elections, “I think we’re going to do really well in Congress. We have a chance to do well in the Senate. We have to get the right president because that’s where the leadership is when you think of it. The election’s important because we can stop what’s happening – we can stop it, and we can stop it cold – but we have to have the right leadership at [the] top.”
The president also hit on sky-high American energy prices and said that the next president had to be somebody who would say, “’We’re going to go back and start drilling because we have no energy. We’re taking energy from countries that are selling it to us for a fortune.’”
Trump’s interview touched on a range of subjects, including inflation, rising crime, and the possible comeback of free speech on the internet.
Trump called his social media platform, Truth Social, “amazingly successful,” and said that it was “very good” that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk took over Twitter last week.
“…It was run by maniacs, radical left lunatics, and…I mean, it was all bots and fake accounts – a lot of it. And it was a disaster, okay?” Trump continued.
In terms of the economy, Trump lambasted the Biden administration for ceasing to drill for oil when prices “hit its all-time high.”
While Trump’s remarks about needing a strong Republican president in 2024 are ambiguous due to his yet-unannounced decision on whether he will make another White House bid, GOP candidates in the midterms are poised to make a massive conservative comeback in both chambers.
