45th President Donald Trump weighed in on the Supreme Court’s Friday decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Trump praised the high court’s decision saying, “This is following the Constitution, and giving rights back when they should have been given long ago.”

Trump told the outlet that “this is something that will work out for everybody” as this “brings everything back to the states where it has always belonged.”

Although he appointed three pro-life justices that voted to strike down Roe, when asked whether he believed he played a part in the demise of the abortion case, Trump maintained that “God made the decision.”

On Friday morning, the Supreme Court issued the most historic decision in modern history, ultimately overturning the 1973 Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey decisions, as previously reported.

“The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives,” Justice Samuel Alito wrote for the majority opinion.

“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences,” the majority opinion reads. “And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division.”

The 5-1-3 ruling will send the issue of abortion back to the states, with at least 13 states ready to prohibit abortion after implementing “trigger bans” in preparation for the end of Roe.
