Trump: PA DOJ Barred from Investigating Voter Fraud under Bill Barr

President Trump criticized Bill Barr after revealing his former Attorney General had instructed the U.S. Attorney in Pennsylvania to refrain from investigating widespread voter fraud complaints surrounding the 2020 election.

In remarks at the Conservative Political Action Conference last weekend in Dallas, Trump said Barr instructed the former U.S. Attorney in Pennsylvania, William McSwain, to avoid investigating the claims.

President Trump said he received a letter from McSwain, just one day before his speech, detailing Barr’s warning against taking action.

“I just, a day ago, received a statement from U.S. Attorney in Pennsylvania, highly respected, that Bill Barr would not allow him to investigate,” Trump stated.

He later released the letter to the public in a press release on Monday calling the allegations “outrageous.”

In the letter, McSwain elaborates on this discrepancy saying, “As part of my responsibilities as U.S. Attorney, I wanted to be transparent with the public and, of course, investigate fully any allegations. Attorney General Barr, however, instructed me not to make any public statements or put out any press releases regarding possible election irregularities.”

The letter continued, “I was also given a directive to pass along serious allegations to the State Attorney General for investigation — the same State Attorney General who had already declared that you could not win.”

McSwain mentioned that, despite the fact he disagreed with his orders, his engrained military background respects the chain of command and he wanted to abide by those standards.

President Trump also slammed Barr for becoming a “different man” as the Democrats threatened impeachment, despite the fact he was impeached twice and became stronger for it.
