President Trump predicted a victory in the commonwealth state of Pennsylvania on Friday, telling members from the NRA during a campaign stop in Harrisburg that the level of spirit seen in 2024, compared to the last two elections, “blows that number away.”
Calling Pennsylvania “one of the most important battleground states in the nation,” the president told audience members that in 2024, he would over-perform his margins in the state from 2016 and 2020, and “blow that number away.”
“I’ve never seen, ever, such spirit. We had 2016, 2020, the level of spirit was incredible,” said Trump. “This blows it away, because basically you’ve seen how incompetent these people that are destroying this country.”
Recalling his monumental victory in Pennsylvania in 2016, Trump reiterated how much of the media and pundits said that the state was not “able to be won,” as no Republican presidential candidate since George H.W. Bush in 1988 carried it.
Pointing at several workers of the event, Trump claimed they told him prior to going on stage that he was “‘more popular in this state right now,'” than ever before,” and that he was “‘gonna blow Pennsylvania away,'” in 2024.
Trump called on Pennsylvanians to vote in November, warning that Democrats will “change the name” of the state if they win—a reference of their efforts to erase the legacies of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
“We are gonna have to win,” the president maintained. “You’re not gonna have a country anymore, you’re not gonna have a state anymore, you’re not gonna have anything.
President Trump also celebrated the state’s rich history, including being the location for which the U.S. Constitution was designed and written and Pennsylvania’s past affirmations for producing oil and steel.
Trump then criticized U.S. Steel’s selling of their company to Japan, saying he “wouldn’t approve that deal” if he had been in office.
Among his other pledges, President Trump told audience members that when reelected, he would “unleash Pennsylvania oil and natural gas at a level never seen before.”
