President Trump on Sunday released a statement in which he claimed that despite stiff opposition from “Big Tech, the Fake News Media, the Radical Left, and RINOS, and more,” that Trump and his supporters “will win anyway!”
Trump also took aim at Fox News for allowing “horrible and untruthful anti-Trump commercials to be run—and plenty of them.” He added that more liberal networks like CNN and MSNBC “would never run a positive Trump ad—never.”
Indeed, Trump received massive levels of negative press during his time in the White House.
For example, a Media Research Center report found that Trump received 95 percent negative coverage across the major news networks during the final months of the 2020 presidential campaign.
In the lead-up to the 2020 Democrat and Republican conventions, ABC, CBS, and NBC evening newscasts focused “512 minutes of airtime” on Trump, which was “nine times more than the 58 minutes allotted to Biden,” according to the MRC study.
The MRC report stated that viewers heard “150 times” more negative comments about Trump than Biden during the closing months of the campaign from network anchors and reporters. And despite the unrelenting negative news reporting, Trump still received 74 million votes, the most in history by an incumbent president.
During the final weeks of the campaign, there was a media blackout of coverage of the then recently disclosed contents of Hunter Biden’s hard drive. Trump later referred to Hunter Biden’s laptop as the “laptop from hell.”
Twitter and Facebook censored the New York Post story that broke the news, claiming that the information was hacked and not obtained legally.
Big Tech and the media also claimed that the laptop was simply a form of “Russian disinformation,” which has since been debunked by the intelligence community.
Twitter censored the account of the White House press secretary, the Trump campaign, and the New York Post for simply sharing a link to the story.
And NPR refused to air the story.
Terence Samuel, managing editor for NPR News said, “We don’t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories, and we don’t want to waste the listeners’ and readers’ time on stories that are just pure distractions.”
Despite the continuing concerted effort to derail President Trump’s political future, the polls show that the 45th president has reason to be optimistic.
A poll released this month by McLaughlin & Associates found that in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup in 2024, Trump would trounce both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
