President Donald Trump ripped Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) on Sunday after the Republican leader delivered remarks in Israel, capping off his international “world tour” of foreign countries ahead of what many believe may be a 2024 presidential campaign.

“DeSanctimonious had nothing to do with Israel, or the moving of the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Never so much as mentioned it to me—It was the last thing on his mind.”

The president’s comments come after Gov. DeSantis delivered remarks in Jerusalem last week, touting his support for the Holy Land despite his insistence that he is “not” yet running for president in 2024.

Gov. DeSantis reflected on the Trump administration’s bold move to relocate the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. Axios reported the following:

“DeSantis presented the Trump administration’s decision to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem as his own achievement, saying he worked to ‘cajole’ the former president to make the move. He didn’t mention former President Trump by name.”

President Trump reacted to this news, commenting, “DeSanctus wasn’t even Governor yet (It was December 6, 2017), and I barely knew him—He has turned out to be a total flameout!”

He added, “This is the kind of disinformation I thought only the Democrats would put out. No wonder DeSanctus is dropping like a rock in the Polls. Terrible!”

Fox News revealed that DeSantis’s speech in Jerusalem emphasized the importance of U.S. and Israel relations, calling Israel “one of America’s most values and trusted allies.”

DeSantis did acknowledge President Trump’s move to hold Iran accountable during his presidency. Per Fox, DeSantis stated, “During the previous administration — the Trump administration — Iran was on the ropes. Iran was in dire straits because there was an effort to hold them accountable.”

Gov. DeSantis is generally expected to announce a 2024 bid for president after the close of the Florida legislative session in May. RSBN previously reported that Senate Bill 7050 had recently passed in Florida, which includes an amendment to abolish “Resign to Run” in the Sunshine State. If it passes the House and goes to the governor’s desk, the path ahead would be cleared for DeSantis to run.
