President Donald Trump on Thursday commented on his wishes for SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, following their very public falling out, noting that he wanted the innovator to be successful in America.

“Everyone is stating that I will destroy Elon’s companies by taking away some, if not all, of the large-scale subsidies he receives from the U.S. Government. This is not so!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He continued, “I want Elon, and all businesses within our Country, to THRIVE, in fact, THRIVE like never before! The better they do, the better the USA does, and that’s good for all of us. We are setting records every day, and I want to keep it that way!”

This gesture of goodwill comes after several weeks of political sparring following Musk’s decision to go on the warpath against President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which was passed by Congress and signed into law on July 4.

In late June, Trump publicly mused about cutting government subsidies to Musk’s businesses. “Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa,” he remarked.

He suggested that DOGE – once spearheaded by Musk – should take “a good, hard, look” at Musk’s subsidies. “BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!” he wrote.

In a move that seemed partially in response to the president’s comments, Musk created a third political party, the “America Party,” which President Trump called “ridiculous” in early July.

“Third parties have never worked; it would just add to the confusion,” Trump said, via RSBN.

Trump also slammed Musk, at that time, for going “completely ‘off the rails’” politically, describing him as a “TRAIN WRECK” propagating “DISRUPTION & CHAOS” with the creation of a fragmented third political party.
