A poll released by Fox News has revealed that more black voters are turning away from the Democratic Party.
President Donald Trump revealed that these voters know “they are being conned by the Democrats.”
Trump told “Fox & Friends” co-host Lawrence Jones during an interview on Thursday that the Democratic Party has conned black voters who are now turning away. This marks a change for Trump’s campaign, where in 2020, he only received 12 percent support from black voters, according to a CNN exit poll.
A new poll from Fox News released on August 14 shows that Trump could get 26 percent of the vote from black supporters in the November elections.
During the interview, Jones played a clip from his recent trip to a Chicago barbershop to discuss political topics with voters.
The Daily Caller shared that the trip revealed that black voters in Chicago were unhappy with the left’s immigration policies. The voters told Jones that the Biden-Harris administration has allowed illegal immigrants to enter the country and threatened black American jobs.
Trump commented on the video clip during the interview and said, “Those are great people. Those are people who just want safety. They don’t want much, he wants to run his barbershop.”
Trump also acknowledged that the political system in Chicago is corrupt: “Look at the governor, the governor is an incompetent guy.”
He also doubled down on the return of tough-on-crime policies in Chicago. PBS News reported that on Tuesday while campaigning in Michigan, he spoke about high levels of crime in the city.
He told the crowd of supporters, “Kamala Harris will deliver crime, chaos, destruction and death,” and added, “You’ll see levels of crime that you’ve never seen before. … I will deliver law, order, safety and peace.”
Trump told Jones that the black voters of Chicago are “strong, they are tough and they know they are being conned by the Democrats.”
