President Donald Trump has not stopped his legal fight against former Elle writer E. Jean Carroll, who was recently awarded $83.3 million by a jury in New York, and on Friday, his attorney Alina Habba moved forward in appealing the case.

According to the Associated Press, Haba notified New York Judge Lewis Kaplan that the 45th president had secured a $91.6 million bond and additionally filed a “notice of appeal” that will be brought to the U.S. Court of Appeals soon.

Without posting bond, President Trump would have been forced to pay Carroll the awarded $83.3 million next week. This also comes on the heels of being ordered to pay hundreds of millions of dollars in a civil fraud lawsuit spearheaded by New York State Attorney General Letitia James.

The total on that case has amounted to $454 million at this point. However, Trump has also appealed that ruling.

The New York Times reported that the president has until March 25 to post bond in that case, as well, to prevent AG James from demanding the money and possibly even taking his assets in New York.

The president has not been shy about sharing his thoughts on both cases. In the situation with Carroll, Trump’s initial reaction to the jury’s decision in January was simple. “THIS IS NOT AMERICA,” he stated on Truth Social. He has also derided the case as “PURE FICTION.”

According to the NYT, attorney Alina Habba stated that she was “highly confident” that Trump would win the Carroll case in an appeals court, describing the multi-million-dollar ruling as “egregious.”
