President Donald Trump announced that he has selected Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as his pick for the Director of Health and Human Services.

Trump shared the news in a post to his Truth Social account concerning his choice to lead the nation’s top health agency.

“I am thrilled to announce Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as The United States Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). For too long, Americans have been crushed by the industrial food complex and drug companies who have engaged in deception, misinformation, and disinformation when it comes to Public Health,” Trump wrote.

“The Safety and Health of all Americans is the most important role of any Administration, and HHS will play a big role in helping ensure that everybody will be protected from harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceutical products, and food additives that have contributed to the overwhelming Health Crisis in this Country,” he continued.

“Mr. Kennedy will restore these Agencies to the traditions of Gold Standard Scientific Research, and beacons of Transparency, to end the Chronic Disease epidemic, and to Make America Great and Healthy Again!” Trump concluded.

Kennedy previously ran as a Democratic candidate for president. He later switched to become an Independent candidate before endorsing Trump and dropping out of the presidential race.

The nomination adds to a growing list of leadership announcements from Trump this week. He also announced former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard as his Director of National Intelligence, along with Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz as his nominee for U.S. Attorney General.

Late Wednesday, Trump also confirmed reports that he is nominating Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio as the Secretary of State. Trump’s appointments began last week when he first announced Susan Wiles as his White House Chief of Staff, making her the first female to hold the position.
