President Trump sent an anticipated letter to Steve Bannon on Saturday releasing the former Trump advisor from executive privilege. The move to revoke the special executive privilege will enable Bannon to testify before the highly partisan Jan. 6 Committee.

The president’s letter to Bannon states, “When you first received the Subpoena to testify and provide documents, I invoked executive privilege. However, I watched how unfairly you and others have been treated, having to spend vast amounts of money on legal fees, and all of the trauma you must be going through for the love of your Country, and out of respect for the Office of the President.”

Trump continued, “Therefore, if you reach an agreement on a time and place for your testimony, I will waive Executive Privilege for you, which allows for you to go in an testify truthfully and fairly, as per the request of the Unselect Committee of political Thugs and Hacks…”

Following the letter, Bannon stated over the weekend that he would be willing to testify in front of the Jan. 6 Committee at a possible public hearing, set to begin on July 18, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.

President Trump pointed out in his letter that the Jan. 6 Committee has “allowed no Due Process, no Cross-Examination, and no real Republican members or witnesses to be present or interviewed.” He added, “It is a partisan Kangaroo Court.”

Trump has previously called the committee’s relentless investigation into the so-called “insurrection” on the U.S. Capitol in 2021 a “witch hunt” with “fakes stories and an all Fake Narrative being produced, with ZERO pushback allowed.”

The committee has issued multiple subpoenas to uncover the “truth” about the events that unfolded at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Interestingly enough, Trump’s popularity has increased among Americans despite the ongoing mudslinging campaign, according to recent polling.

“Why should these evil, sinister, and unpatriotic people be allowed to hurt and destroy the lives of so many, and cause such great harm to our Country?” Trump asked in the letter.

He concluded, “It has been, from the time I came down the escalator at Trump Tower, a political hit job against the overwhelming majority of Americans who support the concept and policy of Making America Great Again and putting America first.”
