President Donald Trump is poised to make a heavy play for Minnesota in the 2024 presidential election, seemingly confirming recent reports that the Trump campaign is setting its sights on collecting more electoral votes than ever before this year.
The 45th president is set to headline the Republican Party of Minnesota’s 2024 Lincoln Reagan Dinner this year, according to a new press release from GOP Minnesota Chairman David Hann.
He stated, “We are thrilled to welcome President Trump back to Minnesota to headline our Lincoln Reagan dinner, an annual tradition that reminds us of the roots of our Party and the leaders who have been most impactful in promoting our American values. I can think of no one more fitting to join us this year than President Trump.”
The chairman of the Minnesota Trump campaign and the House Majority Whip, Rep. Tom Emmer, R-Minn., will co-host the event, which will take place on May 17.
Rep. Emmer shared that he was “excited” to be serving as a co-host for the event this year in a state where Trump has a shot at winning against Biden in 2024.
Emmer explained, “I could not be more excited to host President Trump and officially kick off our 2024 campaign. Joe Biden’s failed policies are showing Minnesotans each day that President Trump is the only choice to lead our country forward. Let’s put America First and win in November.”
Over the weekend, President Trump hosted a donor retreat at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, where NBC News reported that his campaign allegedly relayed that both Minnesota and Virginia were in play in the 2024 election.
Monday’s announcement that the president would be headlining a dinner in Minnesota seemed to prove the theory that President Trump will be going after traditionally blue-leaning states in November as Biden is in his weakest projected electoral position yet.
