President Trump shared a new video on Truth Social that playfully poked a stick at Monday afternoon’s total eclipse that is on track to travel across North America and cause a heavenly stir.
The video, which originated from the account il Donaldo Trumpo, playfully shows a total solar eclipse that looks remarkably like the silhouette of the 45th President of the United States. The facetious meme video is captioned with the inspirational statement, “WE WILL SAVE AMERICA AND MAKE IT GREAT AGAIN.”
On Monday, an anticipated solar eclipse is scheduled to move across North America in the afternoon hours, marking a historic moment for the continent. According to USA Today, another total eclipse will not be seen from the United States until 2044, prompting millions of Americans to mark their calendars, grab their solar glasses, and head outside to see the skies temporarily darken.
In 2017, President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump viewed a solar eclipse from a balcony in the White House alongside family members like Ivanka Trump and Barron Trump.
According to CBS News, the 2017 eclipse was the first solar eclipse to move from the West Coast to the East Coast in almost 100 years and was, at the time, expected to be the “most watched and photographed in history.” It is likely that the 2024 eclipse may top that record.
In 2024, the total eclipse anticipated on Monday has drawn national attention and, curiously, even the attention of the U.S. military.
For example, a report from the Military Times revealed that National Guard units across the country in the path of the eclipse’s totality had arranged operational plans to be ready and available to help with a “tourism surge” related to the eclipse in states like Arkansas, Illinois, New York, and Oklahoma.
